Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized the importance of open dialogue in resolving issues between neighboring countries, acknowledging that it is common to have such disputes. Speaking at the launch of a book authored by former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa in Kathmandu, PM Oli stressed that problems can be effectively addressed through candid discussions based on evidence, international obligations, and national interests.

During the release of Thapa's book, titled Kutniti Ra Bhurajniti (Diplomacy and Geopolitics), PM Oli affirmed Nepal's commitment to maintaining balanced relations with its neighbors, driven by honesty and impartiality. "We will not use any leverage from one neighbor against another, nor will we wish for anyone's misfortune," he stated. "Nepal supports neutrality and the peaceful resolution of conflicts."

PM Oli highlighted Nepal's adherence to United Nations principles and urged for evidence-based discussions rather than mere arguments. He also reiterated Nepal's sensitivity to global peace and the security of its citizens, warning against any infringement on another country's sovereignty for self-interest.

The Prime Minister called on India to accept the report of the Eminent Persons' Group (EPG), which was established to review the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1950 and other bilateral issues. He noted that receiving the report would facilitate further dialogue on border disputes and other matters.

PM Oli also reflected on the significance of the 2015 trade and transit treaty with China, which was signed during India's blockade of Nepal. He described the agreement as an epoch-making event in Nepal's diplomatic history.
